About the Space Zone

The International Space Station | Image: NASA
The use of space is only possible thanks to engineering. Engineers design and build spacecraft that will map and explore distant planets and stars, helping us understand more about the universe.
Experts in this zone work on different aspects of space engineering. One helps develop and fly space telescopes, one makes satellites orbiting the Earth and robots exploring volcanoes on the Moon, and another studies the oceans and coasts by using data from satellites. One investigates which forces act on satellites and what they do to the satellites, and another helps run a programme of studies on space and is also developing space-themed products for children.
